Dougherty American is a 3rd generation homebuilding and real estate management company. Through family values and tireless dedication we take pride in having customers become family.

During his decorated career, John Dougherty worked for big corporate builders and evolved the industry. a tedious planner and absolute perfectionist, John had every square inch covered and cared for. In 2008 during the economic recession that impacted the homebuilding industry, John decided to start John Dougherty Construction Incorporated to leverage his experience, knowledge, and passion. Immediately the company flourished and clients lined up to have custom homes built by John Dougherty. John mastered his craft and reached the pinnacle of his career.

In 2023 the proud son of John Dougherty, Greg, decided to start Dougherty American. After years of working for his father and other companies in the industry it was time to come home. Our mission is to provide a wide range of expertise and solutions to our clients as a company that has fully earned their trust.

About Greg Dougherty:

Greg Dougherty is born and raised in the east bay area of Northern California. Growing up loving sports, football was his favorite. That carried Greg to play football since pop warner through high school. Immediately following high school Greg coached football at his alma mater while going to college and working for his father, John Dougherty. After a few years Greg went on to coach football at Sacramento State while completing his degree in finance and economics. After graduation Greg went to work at John Dougherty Construction Incorporated. He accredits this experience as the most valuable he’s ever had in his life.
